The önj Haslach is a Nature Protection Group which has been active in the region since 1974. This NGO works for the protection and development of the natural environment in the Upper Austrian region of Mühlviertel/Böhmerwald (Northwestern Upper Austria / Bohemian Forest). It aims to protect and develop the great and unique ecological potential of the region for future generations, through a variety of projects. In co-operation with Bavarian and Bohemian partners, it aims to give new chances to endangered animals and plants, as well as to the landscape. The önj Haslach owns 52 hectares of meadowland, ecologically extraordinarily important. The care and management of this botanically and zoologically important area is shared with particular farmers from the region. The scientific research is carried out by members of the group in co-operation with various institutions and individuals. A team of 20 unpaid persons do this ecologically and socially challenging work. Examples of projects: |
