Viele ältere Menschen unserer Region erinnern sich noch an die alljährlichen Ganstriebe vom Böhmischen über die Grenze ins Mühlviertel. Böhmische Weißgans
Es handelte sich um eine mittelgroße Gans mit ovaler Körperform und breiter gut gerundeter Brust. Die Böhmische Gans galt als zutraulich und ruhig mit guten Brut- und Führungseigenschaften. Jedoch machte die Gans nur ein Gelege pro Jahr. Geschätzt wurde die Böhmische Gans vor allem wegen ihres sehr saftigen, zarten Fleisches. Bereits mit 8 Wochen sollen die außergewöhnlich frohwüchsigen Gössel einen beachtlichen Braten abgegeben haben. Bei der Endmast sollen die Ganter gar ein Gewicht von 11 kg erreicht haben. Da die Böhmischen Hirten ihre Gänse häufig im Herbst nach Franken und Bayern trieben, ist dieser Schlag wohl noch in spärlichen Resten dort vorhanden. Czech Goose (Ceska husa)
The original breed of the Czech goose was successfully regenerated at the beginning of the 20th century and was included among significant farm breeds. The breeders are today associated in the Club of the Czech Geese Breeders within the Czech Breeder Union. The goose is rich feathered, with a high quality of feather, it has juicy meat of excellente taste. The live weight of geese ist about 4,5 kg and 5,5 kg of ganders. the priority of Czech goose is in its modesty. It has minimal demands on feeding and breeding and it has two sets of goslings in a year. The basis of the selection programme of the Czech goose as a genetic resource is the introduction of an individual pedigree together with the individual performance control and the selection expecially toward the reproductive parameters. Breeding organisation excludes inbreeding and the possible inbred depressions. The aim is to hatch 20 goslings for a goose and a year.

Ebenso ist das Goldsprenkelhuhn eine alte heimische Haustierrasse. Einst in Südböhmen für die "besseren" Leute gezüchtet, fand es durch nachbarschaftliche Verbindungen (Heirat, Verwandtschaft, ...) auch Einzug im Mühlviertel. Auch diese Art ist fast gänzlich verschwunden und die önj Haslach unterstützt deren Rückkehr.

Czech Gold Brindled Hen (Ceska zlata kropenka)
It is the original domestic breed of hens bred within the whole territory of the Czech Republic till the half of the 19th century when the crossing with foreign imports began. At the beginning of the 20th century the regeneration of original czech hen started and its recognition as significant farm breed was reached. With the developement of the use of hybrids for the production of eggs and other hybrids for the production of meat its breeding has nearly extinguished. The Czech Gold Brindled Hen belongs to the breed for egg production, and has the live weight of 1,8 - 2,2 kg. Its breeders, associated in the Club of the Czech Gold Brindled Hen Breeders within the Czech Breeder Union, respect the pattern book of this breed that contributed to the standardization of the damanded appearance characteristics. The low egg yield and the low weight of eggs as well as the late sexual maturity were the incentives for improving this breed within the National programme of the protection of genetic gesources, with the stress on higher performance.
